Thousands party on the streets of Barcelona
Thousands of people joined Barça’s players on the streets of the Catalan capital to celebrate the club winning its 22nd league title. After leaving Plaza de Colón at 18:30, the fans accompanied the players along the scheduled route.
After convincingly beating off Real Madrid to win yet another trophy, the Catalan club did not want to play down the title won thanks mainly to its consistent form throughout the league campaign. Atop an open-top bus, Tito Vilanova’s men celebrated throughout, continuously taking photographs in order to share them with their fans on numerous social networking sites.
Tonight’s celebration will only take the players around the streets of Barcelona. The club will leave the big celebration for its next home game against Valladolid in the Camp Nou. After the away league game against Espanyol, the club will organise an event to celebrate winning its 22nd league title with all of its fans.
Before the famous 'rúa' (as the open-top bus tour that the squad takes whenever it wins a title is known), the players ate lunch at a well-known Barcelona restaurant to continue celebrating winning the league title. The 'rúa' started at 18:30 (Spanish time) at the World Trade Center situated in Barcelona’s port. From there, the open-top bus took the players along the streets: Passeig de Colom, Avinguda de Roma, Carrer del Comte d'Urgell, Avinguda de Sarrià and Plaça del Doctor Ignasi Barraquer, where the tour finally ended.
